APEX BIGAL DIFFERENTIAL TANK AND RESERVOIR VALVE - 1-1/4"

Apex describes the BigAl as a variable level, diaphragm activated, full flow valve used in large pump-fed water tanks or reservoirs, main or storage tanks, or as a control valve backup in rainwater harvesting. Watts lists it for irrigation, rainwater harvesting, agriculture, horticulture, livestock watering, farm and ranch, and hydroponic systems. A differential dual-weight system holds the valve shut through a wide level band, which reduces pump wear and saves electricity. Distributed in the US by Watts.

  • Series: Apex BigAl (BA), model BA114
  • Inlet connection size: 1-1/4"

  • Inlet pressure: 2 PSI
  • Maximum temperature: 140 deg F
  • Lead free
  • Diaphragm activated - full on/off with soft closing, no water hammer
  • Adjustable weighted floats set the open and close levels
  • UV stabilized
  • Patented self-cleaning mechanism
  • Serviceable - repair kit available
  • Manufacturer part: 88005611

BigAl vs PumpBuddy: Both are Apex differential tank valves. The BigAl is the larger-bore series built for large tanks and reservoirs and runs from 1-1/4" up to 2"; the PumpBuddy series covers 3/4" through 1-1/4". The BigAl also opens at a lower inlet pressure - Watts lists 2 PSI against 8 PSI for the PumpBuddy.

Installation: Apex specifies a minimum 8" (200mm) head above the valve, and says to keep a 12" (300mm) head on the pump outlet at all times. Adjust the cord length for the minimum desired water level and the top (small) weight for the maximum level.
