BAND-IT REAL WOOD VENEER EDGINGAccent your project with the handsome good looks of real wood, conveniently and economically with BAND-IT Real Wood Edgebanding. Repair or enhance cabinetry, furniture, shelving, crafts, and any other flat or cylindrical project with a clean finished wood edge.
Pre-sanded furniture-grade veneer, paper-backed with resin-impregnated paper that prevents splitting and tearing during handling. Apply with a preheated (about 400 degree) household iron; press along the length of the edging until the hot-melt adhesive on the reverse melts and bonds. If a mistake is made during application, simply reheat and reposition. Allow the edging to cool completely before trimming or topcoating.
- Species: Red Oak
- Width: 2", Length: 8 Ft
- Grain runs the length of the edge banding for clean miter and butt joints
- Iron-on hot-melt adhesive bond -- no contact cement, no specialized tools required
- Pre-sanded face ready to stain, oil, or clear-finish to match existing case work
- Trims with scissors, a sharp utility knife, or a dedicated edge-trimmer tool
- Bonds to plywood, particle board, MDF, hardboard, solid wood, and even metal substrates
- Repair chips, dents, water stains, and outdated colors with a fresh wood face
- Sized for a single shelf, drawer front, or small cabinet face frame run
Tip: Red Oak has prominent open grain that takes oil-based pigment stains beautifully; water-based stains can blotch, so pre-condition the surface first. Set the iron to high (cotton/linen, no steam) and press in 4-5 second overlapping passes along the strip. Roll the edging down with a wallpaper seam roller or J-roller immediately after the iron to seat it fully while the adhesive is still hot. Trim flush with an edge-trimmer or a sharp chisel held bevel-up, then knock the corner lightly with 220-grit before applying finish.
