Where to use 1-1/4": Short, light pieces -- shoe molding, quarter-round, thin door stops, picture frames, decorative trim onto drywall or thin substrate. The 1-1/4" length holds a 1/4" to 3/8" trim piece to 1/2" drywall plus stud or backer without blowing through wall finishes on the far side.

Tip: Set nailer depth on a scrap before driving final trim -- on softer paint-grade pine or poplar the head should set roughly 1/32" below the surface for a clean putty pull; on harder oak, maple, or pre-finished trim back the depth off slightly to avoid blowing the head past the surface. For exterior trim or any wet location use stainless or galvanized 16ga finish nails instead -- these bright nails will rust.
