BOSTITCH 16-GAUGE STRAIGHT FINISH NAILS - 1-1/2"16-gauge straight-collated finish nails for clean, precise trim, molding, casing, and cabinetry work. The chisel point shears wood fibers cleanly so the nail drives without splitting hardwood trim or telegraphing through painted stock, and the small 16ga head sets flush for an easy putty-and-paint finish.

Where to use 1-1/2": Standard trim work -- base shoe, casing, panel molding, light chair rail, small jamb extensions. At 1-1/2" the nail clears 1/2" trim and 1/2" drywall and bites a solid 1/2" into a stud or jamb, which is the workhorse engagement for most casing and base shoe.
Tip: Set nailer depth on a scrap before driving final trim -- on softer paint-grade pine or poplar the head should set roughly 1/32" below the surface for a clean putty pull; on harder oak, maple, or pre-finished trim back the depth off slightly to avoid blowing the head past the surface. For exterior trim or any wet location use stainless or galvanized 16ga finish nails instead -- these bright nails will rust.
