Open mesh-back 1/4 sheet sandpaper for palm sanders. The mesh weave passes dust through to the sander's extraction port from anywhere on the sheet, so there's no need to align with a specific hole pattern - it works with every brand of palm sander on the market. Mesh-back also resists clogging on softwood, painted, and finish-loaded surfaces, extending sheet life over standard hole-punched paper.

Application: 80 grit is the starting grit for stripping old paint or varnish, knocking down deep mill marks, and shaping rough lumber before stepping up to finer grits. Skip past 80 only on soft species or pre-sanded panels.

Tip: On a palm sander, keep the sander moving in slow, overlapping passes; pausing in one spot will dish the surface fast at 80 grit. After 80, step up through 120 -> 180 -> 220 for a paint- or stain-ready finish. Don't skip more than one grit at a time or scratch patterns from the coarser grit will show through.
