Tip: Use 6 mil as a heavy-duty long-service barrier: Class A vapor barrier under concrete slabs and beneath crawl-space gravel, multi-week construction enclosures, roof tarping in fair weather, and any place a 4 mil would get walked through. It is the ICC- and ASTM-referenced thickness for under-slab vapor retarders in residential construction. Cut sections oversize by roughly 12 inches per side so you have material to tuck, tape, or pin without restretching across the work area.
