METAL EFFECTS OXIDIZING IRON PAINT

Modern Masters Metal Effects Oxidizing Iron Paint is a water-base, modified acrylic paint with a high concentration of real iron particles. It rusts naturally over time when exposed to the elements, and Metal Effects Rust Activator speeds that oxidation up to create an authentic rust finish in less than one hour. The entire system can be applied to any properly prepared surface, including metal, wood, drywall, plaster, paintable wall coverings, canvas or muslin, and plastic.

  • Water-base modified acrylic loaded with real iron particles; iron oxide pigment
  • Prime first with at least two coats of Metal Effects Primer (AM203) to completely seal and block the surface, and let the primer dry 12 hours before painting; other primers let the activator reach the substrate and ruin the finish
  • Apply two coats, then let the second coat dry completely, about 60 to 90 minutes, before applying Metal Effects Rust Activator (PA904)
  • Brush, roll or spray apply; do not apply below 55 deg F or above 85 deg F
  • Recoat in 60 to 90 minutes, dry to touch in 1 hour, handle in 2 hours, full cure in 3 to 4 hours at 77 deg F and 50% relative humidity
  • Practical coverage 240 sq. ft. per gallon at recommended dry film thickness, allowing 15% material loss
  • VOC content: 179 g/l; cleans up with soap and warm water
  • Interior and exterior use on walls, moldings, trim, columns, doors, railings, lamps, vases and planters
  • Size: Gallon

Note: Seal the finished rust with Metal Effects Permacoat Xtreme (AM204). Do not use other sealers or varnishes.
