MARSHALLTOWN PLASTIC V-NOTCH TROWEL - 1/16" X 3/16"

Marshalltown light-duty plastic-blade V-notch trowel for spreading tile mastic and adhesive on wall tile and light flooring projects. The molded V-notch profile leaves a consistent adhesive ridge across the substrate so each tile beds at a uniform depth, and the plastic blade keeps weight and cost low for DIY and occasional-use applications.

  • Notch Profile: 1/16" x 3/16" V-notch
  • Model: 16274
  • Blade: molded plastic, 10" x 4-1/4" working area
  • Reversible - works equally well for right-hand or left-hand users
  • Comfortable contoured handle grip
  • Light-duty economy tool intended for tile mastic, vinyl floor adhesive, and similar non-thinset applications

Tip: Extra-fine notch profile lays down the thinnest adhesive film of the family. Best for small glass mosaic, smooth-back vinyl flooring, and applications where minimal squeeze-out matters more than coverage. Not suited to ceramic tile larger than mosaic sheets.

Technique: Hold the trowel at roughly a 45-degree angle to the substrate and pull in straight, parallel passes to leave clean V-ridges. Inconsistent angle or curved sweeps produce uneven adhesive depth and lippage between tiles. Work in small sections so the adhesive does not skin over before tiles are set.

Plastic-vs-Steel: Plastic blades are lighter, cheaper, and easier on glass and decorative tile backs, but they wear faster and flex more than steel under heavy thinset. For full-coverage floor mortar or large-format tile, use a steel-blade square-notch trowel rated for the adhesive being applied.
