GARDNER BENDER WIREGARD WIRE CONNECTOR - BLUE (GB-2), 25 PACK

Gardner Bender WireGard blue (GB-2) wire connectors are color-coded for quick gauge identification and engineered for copper-to-copper wire splicing. The blue GB-2 is the small splices for low-volt and small fixture wiring, sized for splices in the #22-#16 AWG range. Square-wire zinc-plated steel springs grip each conductor independently, and the flame-retardant polypropylene shell shrugs off heat and physical abuse in junction boxes and fixture cavities.

  • Wire range: #22-#16 AWG (copper to copper only - NOT for aluminum conductors)
  • Square-wire zinc-plated steel spring grips conductors independently for vibration-resistant splices
  • Flame-retardant polypropylene shell rated to 221 deg F (105 deg C) max
  • Rated 600V max in building wire, 1000V max in fixtures and signs
  • Color-coded shell (Blue = GB-2) for fast at-a-glance gauge identification
  • UL 486C Listed and CSA Certified for code-compliant residential and commercial use
  • 25 connectors per bag

Tip: GB-2 Blue handles light-duty splicing: thermostat lines, sensor cabling, low-volt landscape lighting pigtails, and fixture taps where conductors stay in the 18 to 16 AWG range. Use Yellow GB-4 instead when 14 AWG enters the splice.

Install: Strip about 5/8 inch of insulation from each conductor, hold the conductors parallel with the ends aligned, and twist the connector clockwise until tight. Pre-twisting solid copper conductors with linesman pliers before applying the connector is recommended on 12 AWG and 10 AWG splices where vibration is a concern (junction boxes near appliances, attic-mounted lights, garage-door openers). A finished splice should not pull apart under a firm tug, and no bare copper should show below the connector skirt.

Color code reference: WireGard color codes: GB-1 Gray (#22-#16), GB-2 Blue (#22-#16), GB-3 Orange (#22-#14), GB-4 Yellow (#18-#10), GB-6 Red (#18-#10). Always step up to the next size when in doubt - oversized connectors can spin loose, undersized connectors don't fully engage the spring.
