Getting the most from a blade: Each blade is sharpened on both long edges, so one card carries four working edges. Reverse the blade when the first edge stops biting, and swap in the second blade when both edges are gone. Do not try to regrind them - the heat from a grinder draws the temper out of high-carbon steel and the edge will not hold afterward.

Note: Blade widths are not interchangeable between scraper sizes. Match the blade to your scraper - 1-1/2" blades fit the #3140 scraper only.

Before you scrape: Paint applied in homes built before 1978 may contain lead. Scraping it releases dust and chips. If you are working on a pre-1978 surface, test the paint first and follow lead-safe work practices rather than dry-scraping it into the open air.
