Rust Activator is an acidic water solution that reacts with the real iron particles in Modern Masters Metal Effects Oxidizing Iron Paint, speeding up the oxidation process to create an authentic rust finish in less than an hour. It is the third step of the Metal Effects system: two coats of Metal Effects Primer, then two coats of Oxidizing Iron Paint, then the activator.

• Water-base acidic solution; active ingredient is hydrochloric acid
• Formulated for use over Metal Effects Oxidizing Iron Paint (ME208)
• Let the second coat of iron paint dry completely first, about 60 to 90 minutes, and apply the activator within 24 hours of the paint for full rust development
• Apply with a brush or sea sponge, or spray with a plastic pump sprayer; reapply after 5 minutes, and a third time for a deeper red rust
• The rust finish appears as the activated surface dries, in about 30 to 60 minutes
• Zero VOC (0 g/l); cleans up with soap and warm water
• Practical coverage 250 sq. ft. per gallon, allowing 15% material loss
• Interior and exterior use on any properly primed, paintable surface
