MIBRO TWISTED POLYPROPYLENE ROPE, YELLOW - 3/8" x 400 FTMibro twisted polypropylene rope is a versatile general-purpose utility rope that floats on water and resists rot, mildew, oil, gasoline, and most common chemicals. The UV-stabilized bright yellow construction provides high visibility for safety and easy spotting against grass, deck, snow, and water. The three-strand twisted construction holds knots securely and splices cleanly for eye terminations or end loops.
- Diameter and length: 3/8" x 400 ft
- Safe working load: 244 lb (industry standard 10:1 safety factor)
- Floats on water - ideal for marine, dock, pool, and water rescue use
- Resists rot, mildew, oil, gasoline, and most chemicals
- UV-stabilized polypropylene for extended outdoor exposure
- Three-strand twisted construction - easy to splice, easy to knot
- Lighter per foot than nylon or manila of the same diameter
- Bright yellow for high visibility against grass, deck, snow, and water
- Reel-packaged - pay out and cut to length without tangle
3/8" is the medium-utility workhorse - dock line for canoes and small jon boats, anchor line on quiet water, livestock tie-out, swing rope, tarp ridge line, and securing furniture or appliances in a pickup. Bulk reels suit fence and contractor crews who pull and cut to length on the job.
The 400 ft reel covers contractor, farm, and fleet work where you cut multiple lengths from one reel - tie-downs, lashing, fencing, and field tie-outs.
Tip: Singe freshly cut ends with a lighter or match to fuse the strands and prevent unraveling - twisted polypropylene unravels fast if left raw. For load-bearing knots use a bowline, double sheet bend, or anchor bend - avoid square knots under load. Polypropylene weakens with prolonged direct sunlight (typically 2-3 seasons of continuous UV); inspect before each use for fuzzed strands, broken yarns, or a glazed surface and retire the rope if any of those are present.
Care: Store the reel dry and out of direct sun when not in use. Do not run polypropylene rope on winches or capstans - it melts at low friction temperatures. Avoid loads exceeding the safe working load. Polypropylene shows little warning before failing under shock load, so size up a diameter if there is any chance of jerking or sudden impact.
