CHARLOTTE PIPE PVC DWV COUPLING, SCHEDULE 40 - 3"Straight hub x hub coupling for joining two lengths of 3" PVC DWV pipe in drain, waste, and vent assemblies. Schedule 40 wall thickness and a solvent-welded joint give the run the same rigidity as the pipe itself, so the coupling does not become the weak point in a vertical stack or under a toilet flange.
- Connection: 3" hub x 3" hub (solvent-weld socket both ends)
- Schedule 40 PVC, white
- Dual rated to ASTM D1785 (pressure) and ASTM D2665 (DWV) - usable in both pressure and gravity applications
- NSF listed
- Non-pressure DWV service; maximum operating temperature 140 deg F
- Made in the USA
Applications: Sanitary drain, waste, and vent piping; toilet-flange-to-stack drops, horizontal branch drains, building drains, and main vent risers in residential and light-commercial work.
Installation tip: Cut the pipe square, deburr the ID and OD, then dry-fit the coupling - it should bottom into the hub one third to two thirds of the way in before solvent cement is applied. Use PVC primer (purple) on both surfaces, then apply medium-bodied PVC cement to the pipe OD and coupling ID, push together with a quarter turn, and hold ten seconds. Wait the cure time on the cement can (typically 2 minutes set, 30 minutes handling at 60-100 deg F) before pressurizing or running water.
Note: Not for use with hot-water distribution, compressed air, or fuel gas. For above-ground sanitary drainage only - bury sewer runs use ASTM D2729 or D3034 fittings instead.
