The Irwin Speedbor short-length spade bit is designed for drilling in tight spaces where a standard 6" bit will not fit. The cutting head matches a full-size Speedbor, but the overall length is trimmed for access between studs, joists, and inside cabinetry. The blue-paint coating protects the body from rust, and the 1/4" quick-change hex shank locks into impact drivers as well as standard chucks.

Tip: The 3/4" diameter is the standard size for running 12-2 or 14-2 Romex through wall studs. Drill at a controlled speed and back the bit out periodically to clear chips and prevent burning in dense lumber.
