FRAMING NAIL, 30-DEGREE CLIPPED HEAD - 3-1/4"

Prime Source paper-tape collated 30-degree framing nails for pneumatic framing nailers. The clipped head packs more nails per strip than a round-head collation so you reload less often, and the smooth bright shank drives cleanly into dimensional lumber.

  • Length: 3-1/4" (12d)
  • Shank: .131" smooth shank
  • Head: Clipped
  • Collation: 30-degree paper tape
  • Finish: Bright coated
  • Applications: framing, sheathing, decking, subfloors, siding, fencing, and trusses
  • Compatible with most 30-34 degree paper-tape framing nailers (Bostitch, DeWalt, Hitachi/Metabo HPT, Makita, Paslode, Porter-Cable, Ridgid, Senco)

Where to use: The workhorse framing length for wall studs, plates, headers, sole plates, and most general framing on 2x stock. 12d (3-1/4") with a .131" shank is the standard structural code-approved nail for 2x4 and 2x6 framing.

Smooth vs Ring Shank: Smooth-shank nails drive easier and pull straight - the right pick for structural framing where the connection is in shear (studs, plates, headers). Ring-shank nails resist pull-out under cyclic loading - the right pick for subfloors, sheathing, and exterior decking where wet/dry cycling otherwise backs nails out.

Finish Tip: Bright-coated nails are intended for interior, dry-service framing. For pressure-treated lumber (ACQ/CA), cedar, redwood, or exterior exposed connections, switch to a hot-dip galvanized or stainless framing nail to avoid corrosion-driven failure of the connection.
