The 60 grit (coarse) abrasive is built for heavy stock removal, paint and finish stripping, leveling rough lumber, and shaping rough stock before stepping up to finer grits.

Tip: Use light pressure with 60 grit. Coarse abrasives cut fast on their own, and pressing down deepens the scratch pattern, which then takes extra work to remove at finer grits. Step up to 80 grit before going finer.
