PLASTIC PEX TEST PLUG 1/2" 2 PACKPlastic barbed test plugs that cap 1/2" PEX tubing during pressure testing of new or repaired plumbing systems. Slide onto the PEX end and secure with a copper crimp ring (sold separately) to form a watertight seal for air or water pressure tests before final connections are made.
- 1/2" PEX barbed test plug -- caps the end of a PEX run
- PPSU (polyphenylsulfone) construction, lead-free and NSF/ANSI 61 & 14 certified for potable water
- Meets ASTM F2159 for plastic insert PEX fittings
- Rated 100 PSI at 180 deg F and 160 PSI at 73 deg F -- exceeds typical pressure-test targets (usually 40-100 PSI air or 100-150 PSI water)
- Compatible with copper PEX crimp rings or stainless steel cinch clamps
- 2 plugs per bag
Installation Tip: Slide the crimp ring onto the tubing first, push the PEX fully onto the plug barb until it bottoms, position the ring 1/8" to 1/4" from the tube end, and crimp with a calibrated PEX tool. Air-test first (40-60 PSI) to find leaks before water-testing at higher pressure.
Note: Test plugs are single-use in most installations -- once the test passes, cut the tubing behind the plug and install the permanent fitting. Keep plugs and rings dry until installation to avoid contamination in the crimp joint.
