CLOSED S HOOK, ZINC PLATED - 1-5/8", 4-PACK

National Hardware V2072 series closed S-hook, catalog #810, sized 1-5/8" for general home, garage, garden, and light industrial hanging. The closed-loop ends grip chain links, screw eyes, plant-hanger rods, and pegboard hooks without slipping off and can be opened or pinched closed with pliers when you need to capture or release a link. Made from zinc-plated steel wire with National's WeatherGuard corrosion coating for indoor and protected outdoor use.

  • National Hardware V2072 light closed S-hook, catalog #810
  • Hook size: 1-5/8" (overall hook length)
  • Safe working load: 15 lb per hook
  • Steel wire with zinc plating and WeatherGuard corrosion coating
  • Both ends are closed loops - opens and closes with pliers
  • Sold in a 4-piece visual pack (carded for retail display)
  • Interior and protected exterior use

Use Cases: Hanging plants and planters from porch beams, suspending bird feeders or wind chimes, joining lengths of chain, hanging tools and kitchenware from pegboard or ceiling hooks, picture-frame wire to wall hook, garage and shed organization, light fixture and pendant chain connections.

Selection Tip: The #810 catalog number is National's reference for the hook size, not the load rating - shop by hook size and weight of the load. As a rule of thumb, the bigger the hook the bigger the chain or screw eye it can capture: 2-1/8" suits 1/8" to 3/16" proof coil and large screw eyes, 1-5/8" suits 3/32" to 1/8" chain and standard plant hangers, 1-1/4" suits double-jack and small chain, 1-1/8" suits small jack and double-jack chain, 7/8" suits very small chain and key-ring-size loops. If the chain link or eye won't seat in the hook's bend, step up one size; if the hook gaps wider than the link, step down so the load can't shift sideways.

Installation Tip: Pinch both ends closed with pliers once the chain or eye is captured so the load can't bounce free under vibration or wind. For outdoor or wet use, step up to a stainless steel or vinyl-coated S-hook - zinc plating resists rust but is not a marine or salt-spray finish. For overhead loads or anything safety-critical (suspending heavy fixtures, swing seats, anything over a person or pet), use a hardware-rated cold-shut S-hook or quick-link and stay well under the working load.

Note: Working load is the safe rating for static, vertical, in-line loads. Side-loading, shock-loading, or rusted/bent hooks fail at much lower loads. Inspect and replace any S-hook that shows bending, opening, or surface corrosion. This is not a rigging or overhead-personnel-lifting hook.
