FREUD CARBIDE ROUNDING OVER ROUTER BIT - 1/8" RADIUS, 1/4" SHANKFreud carbide-tipped rounding over bit with 1/4" shank for forming smooth, rounded edges on hardwood, softwood, plywood, MDF, and composition materials. The ball-bearing pilot rides along the workpiece edge for consistent profile depth on hand-held and table-mounted routers. The red Perma-SHIELD non-stick coating reduces friction and resists pitch and resin buildup that dull a bit prematurely.
- 1/8" cutting radius - profiles a true quarter-round edge
- Cutting diameter: 3/4"
- Overall length: 2-3/16"
- 1/4" shank fits all 1/4"-collet routers (most fixed and plunge routers)
- Micrograin carbide cutting tips for clean cuts and long edge life
- Ball-bearing pilot for accurate edge-following without a fence
- Red Perma-SHIELD non-stick coating resists pitch and reduces friction heat
- Anti-kickback shoulder design limits chip-load per pass for safer cuts
- Suitable for hand-held and table-mounted routers
Tip: Always rout edges in multiple light passes - one full-depth pass on a large radius bit chips out grain and stresses the bit. Feed against the bit rotation (left to right on the front of a routing table, right to left when hand-routing an outside edge) - feeding the wrong direction is climb cutting and the bit can grab the workpiece. Keep the bearing clean and a drop of oil on the bearing race extends its life; replace the bearing if it spins roughly.
