Spring-steel R-clip (also called a hitchpin clip or hairpin cotter) used to secure a hitch pin, clevis pin, or other smooth pin in farm equipment, trailers, lawn-and-garden machinery, and industrial assemblies. The yellow zinc plating gives both corrosion resistance and high field visibility so a dropped clip is easy to spot in grass or shop dirt.

Sizing: Match the clip to the cross-hole through your pin - the wire has to pass through the hole with a little clearance, and the looped end needs to seat against the pin shank so the spring leg can snap over it and hold. Measure the hole rather than the pin body; a clip that rattles in an oversize hole will walk out under vibration. A standard agricultural size - 3-point hitch implement pins, drawbar pins, PTO shaft retaining pins, and Category 1 tractor implements such as a box blade, brush hog or tiller.

Range: Double HH builds this yellow zinc hitchpin clip in wire diameters from 0.028" up to 0.310", so a heavier or lighter clip is available if this one does not suit your pin.

Installation tip: Slip the straight leg through the cross-hole until the looped end seats against the pin, then squeeze the spring leg to its parallel position so it grips the pin shank. To remove, pull straight back on the looped end - do not pry sideways with a screwdriver, which work-hardens the wire and shortens clip life. Keep a spare bag on the equipment - hitchpin clips are easy to lose during field service.
