The reversed tooth design cuts on the down-stroke so chip-out lands on the back side of the workpiece, leaving the top (finished) face splinter-free on laminates, melamine, veneered panels, and pre-finished plywood. Tip: Hold the saw shoe firmly against the workpiece -- down-cut blades have a stronger upward pull than standard blades and the saw can lift if you do not maintain pressure on the shoe.
