ELECTRO-GALVANIZED ROOFING NAILS - 1"Mazel electro-galvanized roofing nails with a wide flat head, smooth shank, and diamond point, sized for fastening asphalt shingles, roofing felt, and insulating board to wood roof deck. Steel core with a thin zinc electroplate finish for general weather resistance under shingle cover.
- Length: 1"
- Shank: 11 gauge smooth steel (~0.120" diameter)
- Head: large flat head (approximately 3/8" diameter) seats shingle face flush and resists pull-through
- Point: diamond point starts cleanly and minimizes deck splitting
- Finish: electro-galvanized zinc plate, intended for use under shingle cover; for fully exposed coastal or copper-flashed work, step up to hot-dip galvanized or stainless
- Standard: meets ASTM F1667 dimensional spec for roofing nails
- Packaging: 5 lb box
Tip: 1" length is the all-purpose choice for new-construction 3-tab and architectural asphalt shingles fastened into nominal 1/2" wood sheathing. Drive heads flush with the shingle surface and not into it -- overdriven nails crush the asphalt mat and lead to leaks. Six nails per shingle in normal wind zones, eight nails in high-wind areas.
