Connect black poly pipe (also called polyethylene or PE pipe) to a male NPT thread. The barbed insert end pushes into the poly pipe and is secured with a stainless steel hose clamp; the male pipe thread end screws into any matching female NPT fitting, valve, or pump port. Galvanized steel construction stands up to outdoor service and underground burial where bare iron would rust.

Tip: Warm the end of the poly pipe in hot water for 20-30 seconds before driving the barb in - the pipe softens and seats fully over the ridges without splitting. Always finish with a stainless hose clamp positioned over the barbs, and use PTFE thread tape (not pipe dope) on the male NPT side.
