The Ramset RSS (Rugged Structural Screw) is a 5/16" diameter x 6" long fastener for wood-to-wood structural connections - deck framing, stair stringers, multi-ply joists, and general wood framing where a lag screw would normally be specified. Hardened steel and a star-drive washer head let the screw self-feed into framing lumber without pilot holes in most species. Climatek coating gives corrosion resistance for treated lumber and exterior use.

Tip: Drive with an 18V+ impact driver using the matching star bit (T-30 for 5/16" RSS). For very dense species (oak, ipe) or screws driven near board ends, predrill the first board with a bit roughly equal to the screw's minor diameter to prevent splitting. Snug the head firm against the work but stop when it bites; over-torquing past flush can strip the threads in the second member.
