HILLMAN STEELWORKS THREADED ROD - 7/16-14 x 24"Zinc-plated, low-carbon steel threaded rod for hangers, anchor bolts, U-bolt fabrication, clamps, and general fastening. Coarse UNC threads accept any standard hex nut or washer of the matching size. Cut to length with a hacksaw or angle grinder, then chase the cut end with a file or thread chaser so nuts thread on cleanly.
- Material: Low-carbon steel, made in USA
- Finish: Zinc electroplated for a bright look and indoor/light-duty corrosion resistance
- Diameter: 7/16
- Thread: 14 TPI coarse (UNC Class 2A), fits standard hex nuts and washers
- Length: 24"
- Strength: Low-carbon steel rod equates to roughly SAE Grade 2 (about 55,000 psi tensile, 36,000 psi yield) - suitable for general fastening and hanging; step up to Grade 5 or 8 all-thread for structural-load applications
- Typical 24" uses: ceiling drops for HVAC duct hangers, light-fixture supports, conduit straps, and plumbing tie-downs
- Applications: Hangers, anchor bolts, U-bolts, clamps, general fastening
Tip: Wrap masking tape around the cut zone before sawing to keep the threads clean, then run a nut over the cut end to chase the threads. For 24" stock, this is a common stock length for ceiling drops for HVAC duct hangers. Do not weld electroplated rod; the zinc coating produces toxic fumes when heated.
