AC20 JOBSITE DUCT TAPEIntertape Polymer Group (IPG) AC20 Jobsite multipurpose colored duct tape - a 9 mil polyethylene-coated cloth backing with a high-tack rubber-resin adhesive. The all-weather construction sticks to most clean dry surfaces and tears straight by hand without curling. Colored tape doubles as a job-site identification system: tag tool kits by trade, color-code stage cables, mark hazard zones, or simply color-match a temporary repair to its surroundings.
- General-purpose 9 mil polyethylene-coated cloth duct tape
- Rubber-resin adhesive bonds to most clean dry surfaces
- Conformable backing wraps corners and curved surfaces
- Hand-tearable - no knife or scissors needed
- Water and tear resistant
- Indoor and short-term outdoor use
- Width: 2"
- Length: 60 Yd (180 Ft)
- Color: Black
Selection Tip: Black is the workhorse for stage and AV work (gaffer-style cable runs, blackout patches over LED indicator lights, light-leak sealing), automotive interior repair where any other color would stand out, and general invisible-mend jobs on dark equipment.
Application Tip: Surfaces should be clean, dry, and above 50 deg F at application; cold and damp cuts initial tack. Press firmly along the full length of the tape - duct tape needs a few seconds of pressure to wet out the adhesive and reach full bond. Overlap successive passes by at least 1/2" when sealing seams; for a permanent weather seal on ductwork, step up to a UL 181B-rated foil tape rather than relying on cloth.
Care Tip: Store rolls flat in the original carton at room temperature; cold storage stiffens the adhesive and the cloth tears unevenly on unwind. Cloth duct tape is short-term in direct sun - UV degrades the polyethylene coating in a season or two; pull and replace any tape that has stiffened or chalked.
Note: Despite the name, generic cloth "duct tape" is no longer code-approved for permanent HVAC duct sealing in most jurisdictions - it loses adhesion on warm duct work over time. Use this tape for general repair, bundling, color-coding, theater/stage work, and temporary patches. For permanent HVAC sealing, switch to a UL 181B-listed metal foil or mastic system.
