SOUTHWIRE ARMORLITE TYPE MC METAL CLAD CABLE - 14/2, 100 FT

Southwire Armorlite Type MC metal-clad cable carries power, lighting, and control circuits inside lightweight aluminum interlocked armor. 14 AWG solid copper THHN/THWN conductors (2-conductor plus a green insulated ground) are cabled together with a printed binder tape inside the armor, listed for branch and service power distribution in commercial, industrial, institutional, and multi-residential buildings.

  • 14 AWG solid copper conductors, 2-conductor with insulated ground (Black/White/Green)
  • 2-conductor with ground for standard hot/neutral 120V branch circuits
  • Lightweight aluminum interlocked armor (AIA)
  • Type THHN/THWN conductors rated 90 deg C dry at 600V
  • Rated for dry, indoor locations only per NEC 330.10(A)(10) - this is unjacketed Type MC
  • No anti-short bushing required at the cut ends
  • For branch and service power distribution in commercial, industrial, institutional, and multi-residential buildings
  • Concealed or exposed installations; may be fished or embedded in plaster
  • Approved for cable tray and raceways, environmental air-handling spaces per NEC 300.22(C), and under raised floors per NEC Article 645
  • Places of Assembly per NEC 518.4 and theaters per NEC 520.5
  • Class I Div. 2, Class II Div. 2, and Class III Div. 1 hazardous locations
  • UL Listed Metal-Clad Cable (PJAZ); meets Federal Specification A-A59544
  • 14 AWG is sized for 15-amp branch-circuit overcurrent protection per NEC 240.4(D)
  • 100 Ft Length

100 Ft length covers multi-circuit room rough-in or longer commercial branch runs where the panel is across the building.

Tip: Cut the aluminum armor cleanly with an MC cable cutter or roto-split tool - avoid hacksaws, which leave sharp edges that can nick conductor insulation. Southwire lists Armorlite as requiring no anti-short bushing, so the MC connector at the box is all you need at each cut end. Per NEC 330.30, support MC cable within 12 inches of each box and at intervals not exceeding 6 ft along the run.
