ALUMINUM FOIL TAPE

Intertape Polymer Group (IPG) aluminum foil tape with a high-tack rubber-based adhesive on a shiny aluminum backing. Ideal for sealing and seaming fiberglass duct board, joining pipe insulation jackets, patching sheet metal ductwork, and maintaining vapor barrier integrity. The reflective foil dissipates heat and light, and the rubber adhesive forms an immediate bond on cool or warm surfaces.

  • 3 mil thick aluminum foil backing
  • High-tack rubber-based adhesive bonds on contact
  • Flame resistant - safe for HVAC and duct work
  • Reflective backing dissipates heat and light
  • Silicone-coated release liner for smooth dispensing
  • Recommended minimum application temperature: 40 deg F (4 deg C)
  • Color: Silver
  • Size: 2" x 150 Ft

Selection Tip: The 150-foot roll is the workhorse for a full HVAC duct retrofit, a long run of insulated pipe, or a commercial vapor-barrier patch. Fits a standard 2-inch tape dispenser and avoids constant roll changes when sealing dozens of seams in a session.

Application Tip: Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of dust, oil, and condensation - wipe greasy sheet-metal duct with isopropyl alcohol before sticking. Press the foil firmly with a plastic squeegee or hand roller to wet out the adhesive and seal seam edges; overlap successive passes by at least 1/2". Burnish around elbow throats and collar joints where the foil tries to bridge rather than conform.

Care Tip: Store rolls flat in the original carton at room temperature - cold storage stiffens the adhesive and the foil tears on unwind. Once installed, the bond strengthens over the first 24 hours; avoid pulling on fiberglass jackets or shifting rigid duct sections during that window.

Note: Aluminum foil tape seals HVAC and insulation systems but is not a structural fastener. For exterior roof penetrations, step up to a butyl or aluminum-butyl flashing tape; for service above 200 deg F, switch to a high-temp UL 181B-rated foil tape sized for the duty.
