SOFT COPPER UTILITY TUBING COIL - 1/4" x 20 Ft

Retail-boxed soft copper coil from JMF's Utility Grade line, listed by the manufacturer for the do-it-yourself market and for residential water supply lines. Soft copper bends by hand to route under cabinets, behind appliances and through joist bays, so one coil can make the whole run without couplings.

  • Outside diameter: 1/4" - utility tubing is sized by actual OD, so it pairs with 1/4" OD compression fittings
  • Length: 20 Ft, supplied as a flat coil
  • Soft temper - bends by hand around obstacles without a tubing bender
  • Alloy C12200 copper; corrosion resistant and easy to join
  • Grade: JMF Utility. JMF lists a standard for each of its other grades - ASTM B88 for Type K, L and M water tube, ASTM B280 for its ACR and refrigeration coils - and lists Utility Grade for the do-it-yourself market
  • Drinking water: JMF states that its ASTM B88 Type K, L and M copper water tube is the line evaluated to ANSI/NSF Standard 61 for drinking water supplies
  • Manufacturer part: 6363804795406

Choosing between grades: JMF does not publish a wall thickness for the Utility Grade coil. For flared joints, refrigeration lines or any pressure service, use JMF's 1/4" ASTM B280 ACR refrigeration coil instead - it is cleaned, dehydrated and capped for that duty.

Sizing Tip for Appliance Lines: Measure the run from the shutoff valve to the back of the appliance and add 6 to 8 feet of slack, so the appliance can be pulled out for cleaning and service without disconnecting the line.

Installation Tip: Use a tubing cutter rather than a hacksaw for a clean, square cut, and ream the inside burr before installing the compression sleeve. Make gentle, wide bends - kinked copper restricts flow and is hard to repair. Anchor the line where it crosses framing so vibration does not work-harden it.
