A glycerin-filled gauge reads steady where a dry gauge would not. The fill damps the needle against the pulsing of a diaphragm pump and the vibration of a machine, so you can actually read the pressure while the sprayer is running. Tip: Size the gauge so your normal working pressure lands in the middle third of the dial. A gauge run near the top of its range wears out fastest.
