PLASTI DIP TOOL DIP - BLUE, 14.5 ozPlasti Dip Tool Dip is a synthetic-rubber dipping compound that turns a bare metal or worn tool handle into a soft, cushioned, color-coded grip. Dip the handle directly into the can; the coating air-dries to a flexible rubber skin that won't chip, crack, or peel and that absorbs vibration as you work.
- Color: Blue
- Can size: 14.5 oz - sized to dip standard hand-tool handles right in the can
- Adds a cushioned, slip-resistant rubber grip to pliers, wrenches, hammers, garden tools, and shop tools
- Insulates the handle (electrically resistant; not a UL-listed electrical insulator, but cuts incidental contact shocks and cold transfer)
- Color-codes yard tools, garage tools, or rental fleet so the right tool is easy to spot
- Air-dries flexible; won't chip, crack, or peel like paint
- Also coats hard-to-reach surfaces and protects metal, wood, and concrete from weather and wear
Tip: Apply at 65 to 85 F with humidity below 60%. Clean and dry the handle first - any oil or grit will telegraph through the coating. Dip slowly, lift slowly (about 1 inch per second), and let the excess drip back into the can. Hang the tool to cure for 30 minutes between coats, and apply 2 to 3 coats for a durable grip. Full cure is roughly 4 hours; let it cure 24 hours before heavy use. Seal the can tightly between dips - this stuff skins over fast in open air.
Use: Tool handles (pliers, screwdrivers, hammers, wrenches, garden tools), rake and shovel handles, sport-equipment grips, fishing-rod handles, custom-color tool identification, light protective coating on small metal parts. Not rated for continuous immersion or food-contact surfaces.
