DURAVENT TYPE B GAS VENT STORM COLLAR - 6"The DuraVent Type B Gas Vent Storm Collar slips over the vent pipe above the roof flashing to direct water away from the penetration and keep the chimney chase dry. It is a required finishing piece of the Type B gas vent installation -- sized to match the BV pipe diameter, paired with the matching adjustable roof flashing, and sealed at the top edge to complete the weather-tight seal.
- Pipe diameter: 6" inner diameter (sized to slip over DuraVent Type B BV gas vent pipe)
- Aluminum construction for long-term outdoor exposure
- Designed to sit above the BV adjustable flashing and direct water away from the penetration
- Sealed with high-temperature silicone at the top inner edge to complete the weather seal
- For use exclusively with DuraVent BV (Type B) gas vent systems on natural-draft gas appliances
Selection Tip: Storm collar diameter must match the vent pipe inner diameter exactly -- not the appliance flue size. Choose the 6" collar with 6" DuraVent BV pipe; for a different pipe size, use the matching BVSC part number (6" pipe takes the 6" storm collar).
Application Tip: Install the adjustable roof flashing first, then slide the storm collar down over the pipe so it rests on the upper cone of the flashing. Run a continuous bead of high-temperature silicone sealant around the upper inner edge of the collar where it meets the pipe -- this is what makes the joint weatherproof. The collar fits snugly to the pipe; no fasteners are normally required.
Note: Type B gas vent components are listed for natural-draft, gas-fired appliances only -- do not use with solid fuel (wood, pellet, coal), oil-fired appliances, or any single-wall or high-temperature chimney system. Follow DuraVent installation instructions and local code for required pipe clearances to combustibles and termination height.
