The molded chevron pattern across the top breaks up the falling water column, so heavy storms do not gouge a wash pit at the discharge point or splash-back against the siding. A patent-pending cut-out at the inlet end accommodates standard 2" x 3" and 3" x 4" downspout elbows even where the elbow sits low to grade with little clearance. A front anchor hole lets you drive a landscape spike to hold the block in place through wind, mowing, and the freeze-thaw cycle. UV-stabilized vinyl construction will not rot, crack, or absorb water like concrete blocks, and weighs roughly 1.5 lbs - light enough to lift and reposition for mowing or grading.

Selection Tip: Green blends into grass and dense planting beds, so a splash block sitting at the edge of a lawn or in a hedge row vanishes into the landscaping rather than drawing the eye. Good choice when the discharge sits in a flowerbed border.

Installation Tip: Set the splash block on bare soil or shallow gravel so it sits flat and pitched slightly away from the foundation - a downhill tilt of 1/4" to 1/2" across the 24" length is enough to keep water moving. Center the cut-out end under the downspout elbow so the elbow drops water directly onto the chevron pattern, not onto the lip. Drive the landscape spike through the front anchor hole into firm soil to lock the block down. If the ground will not hold the spike, drive a 12" rebar pin instead, or set the block onto a 1" gravel bed for stability.

Care Tip: Lift the block off the soil once a year - typically at spring cleanup - to check that the discharge end still pitches away from the foundation and that the soil has not settled into a back-pitch. Hose off accumulated grit and silt from the chevron pattern when you clear gutters in spring and fall. Vinyl handles freeze and thaw without cracking, but ice that builds up against the block over the winter can shove it out of position - re-set in early spring.
