IRWIN HANSON SPIRAL FLUTE SCREW EXTRACTOR - EX-4

The EX-4 spiral flute screw extractor backs broken studs, bolts, socket screws and fittings out of the hole. The aggressive left-hand spiral bites harder the more you turn it, so the extractor grip increases as the fastener resists. Drill the pilot hole with the matching bit size, then back the fastener out counterclockwise.

  • Removes broken fasteners 9/32" to 3/8" (8 to 10 mm, 1/8" NPT, 1/8" BSP)
  • Aggressive left-hand spiral design for extra gripping power
  • Spiral flutes embed deeper into the metal as you turn the tool, so the extractor grip increases as fastener resistance increases
  • Extractor size and recommended drill bit size are etched on each tool
  • Use a 1/4" drill bit for the pilot hole (drill first)
  • 1/4" shank, 2-7/8" overall length
  • Carbon steel construction
  • IRWIN recommended tap wrench: TR-88
  • IRWIN Hanson 534 Series, part no. 53404

Tip: Center-punch the broken fastener so the drill does not walk, drill the pilot hole straight and on-center with the size above, then turn the extractor counterclockwise with a tap wrench. On rust-frozen fasteners, let penetrating oil soak in (or apply gentle heat) before turning the extractor.
